We are in a battle and the enemy would love nothing more than for us to believe that our efforts are not worth it, that they are not making a difference. He would love for us to back down, drop our weapons, and quit. Every word we pray, every scripture we speak, every thanks we give, every word of praise lifted up, these are our weapons. We need to become experts, highly skilled at using them because they do make a difference.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
We have mighty weapons available to us, but we have to pick them up and use them. Every time we pick our weapons up we are gaining ground on the enemy. Our spiritual weapons should flow naturally in our lives without us even thinking twice about using them. They should become as natural as breathing to us. The only weapons that do not work are the ones that are not picked up and used.
If you have taken your armor off because you are weary, busy, distracted, or whatever the case may be, put it back on. The battle ultimately belongs to the Lord, but we have a part to play. God is your strength and power but you still have to dress for battle. With His help you can stand against the enemy.
“be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:10-11
This is no time to back down and let the enemy gain ground. Put your armor on. Get dressed, stand your ground, and take back the territory he has taken from you. Keep using those weapons even when what you see around you does not seem to be changing. You can’t give up. You are going to see the fruits of your efforts if you will be persistent and keep fighting. Every time you stand with God, you are taking back what that the enemy has stolen from you.
“and let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Galatians 6:9
With God on your side, you are more than enough. Look back through the scripture and see what God can use. Slingshots, stones, ox goads, the jawbone of a donkey, unlikely weapons for most soldiers, but in the hand of a Child of God the enemy is taken down. Little is much when God is in it.
Your family needs you to fight. Your friends need you to fight. Your community needs you to fight. Your nation needs you to fight. You can’t win a battle you aren’t fighting in and you can’t fight without weapons. We are at war. Keep fighting, you are making a difference and it terrifies the enemy.
