Best Items in Act 3 - Baldur's Gate 3 (2024)

Baldur's Gate 3 is a gem of an RPG filled with powerful weapons, ancient artifacts, and glorious armor to collect and use. In particular, Act 3 contains some of the best possible items you can find in the whole game. It is almost a shame getting these build-defining drops so late in the game, but thankfully Act 3 is on the longer side of the spectrum. So let's talk about it—here is the best loot you can find in BG3 Act 3.

Best Loot in Act 3 - Baldurs Gate 3

1. Staff of Cherished Necromancy

As the name suggests, the Staff of Cherished Necromancy favors wizards that subscribe to the Necromancy subclass. This legendary staff absorbs the life essence from any enemy that is killed near you, which you can then use to fuel your Necromancy spells instead of utilizing spell slots. It is utterly build-defining and if you're playing a Necromancer, it is a must-have.

The staff is looted from the corpse of Mystic Carrion in Philgrave's Mansion.

2. Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength

These gauntlets increase your Strength Ability Score to 23 so long as you're wearing them, meaning you no longer have to invest any points into Strength and can, instead, put them in an entirely different stat. For any Strength-based characters, this is building defining and should be acquired at all costs.

The Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength are one of many trinkets located within the House of Hope dungeon, one of the final dungeons of Act 3.

3. Gloves of Soul Catching

These gloves are best in slot for any characters utilizing unarmed attacks to deal damage, as they add 1d10 Force damage to every one of your attacks and cause you to heal for 10 hit points once per turn. Additionally, you can decide to negate the healing to gain Advantage on your Attack Rolls and Saving Throws until your turn concludes.

The Gloves of Soul Catching can be obtained from the House of Hope.

4. Helldusk Gloves

Yet another pair of gloves with insane effects, the Helldusk Gloves give you a +1 bonus to your Spell Attack Rolls and Spell Save DC. More importantly, they add an additional 1d6 Fire damage to all of your weapon attacks. If you're unarmed, they will instead deal 1d6 Necrotic damage and have a chance to inflict the Bleeding status. These gloves are extremely versatile and are functional on just about every type of character to some degree.

The Helldusk Gloves can also be found in the House of Hope.

5. Bhaalist Armour

This Light Armour causes enemies within two meters of the wearer to become vulnerable to Piercing damage and grants a +2 to Initiative Rolls. For Rogue-style characters using Piercing weapons, the Bhaalist Armour is one of the best chest pieces to get your hands on due to the significant boost in damage it passively provides.

The Bhaalist Armour can be purchased from Echo of Abazigal in the Murder Tribunal only after becoming an Unholy Assassin.

6. Armour of Agility

This Armour adds the wearer's Dexterity modifier to their Armour Class (AC). For characters relying on Dexterity, this armour is one of the best you can obtain due to AC being directly tied to your survivability.

The Armour of Agility is sold by Gloomy Fentonson at the Stormshoure Armoury.

7. Helm of Balduran

This helmet is ridiculous with all the benefits that are granted just by wearing it. First, the wearer is healed by two every turn, no questions asked. Second, it grants a flat +1 to AC and Saving Throws. Finally, and most importantly, the wearer is immune to the Stunned status and cannot be critically hit. For tanky melee characters, there is no question this is best in slot.

The Helm of Balduran can be looted from the corpse of Anser within the Dragon's Sanctum.

8. Mask of Soul Perception

This helmet is very simple but very powerful. It grants the wearer a +2 to Attack Rolls, Initiative Rolls, and Perception Checks (all of which are highly important in BG3). In particular, having an item that grants +2 to Attack Rolls is already very significant, as there are very few ways to get bonuses toward Attack Rolls.

The Mask of Soul Perception can be looted from a chest upstairs in the Devil's Fee, located in the Lower City.

9. Bonespike Boots

These boots increase your AC and Saving Throws by one as long as the wearer is not wearing armour or using a shield. Additionally, it increases the wearer's Jump distance. With the armor limitation in place, these boots are designed for casters to wear. Casters already have questionable mobility and survival abilities, but the Bonespike Boots aims to improve both at the same time.

The Bonespike Boots can be found in a chest located within the Secluded Passagway (X: -231, Y: 83) in Rivington, Baldur's Gate.

10. Amulet of Greater Health

The Amulet of Greater Health is a simple accessory that increases the wearer's Consitution Ability Score to 23. This is absolutely best in slot on any melee tanky character, and still an extremely strong option for any other class or build in the game.

The Amulet of Greater Health can be found in the House of Hope.

11. Spell Savant Amulet

This Amulet simply grants the wearer an additional Level 2 Spell Slot, and nothing more. However, even one more spell slot is significant for any caster in BG3, even Warlocks.

The Spell Savant Amulet is found in The Counting House, Lower City, within High-Security Vault No.1.

12. Balduran's Giantslayer

This Greatsword allows the wielder to double the damage dealt from their Strength Modifier on a successful hit, significantly boosting said damage. It also comes with a staggering Weapon Enhancement +3, making it the single best two-handed weapon in the game for damage.

The Balduran's Giantslayer can be looted from Ansur's corpse in the Dragon's Sanctum. (Yes, Ansur is a dragon.)

13. Sword of Chaos

While the Sword of Chaos is also a Greatsword like the Balduran's Giantslayer, it is not better than it for dealing damage. However, it makes up for its lack of power by granting the wielder 1d6 hit points every time they land a hit. The Sword of Chaos is an amazing weapon for any character of the Bruiser archetype (Off-tank/Tanky DPS)

The Sword of Chaos can be looted from the corpse of Sarevok within the Murder Tribunal.

14. Gontr Mael

This is a very powerful bow that comes with a Weapon Enchantment +3, already giving it very favorable stats for usage. However, Gontr Mael makes this list solely due to its Celestial Haste ability, allowing wielders to cast Haste without any requirements. Haste is the most powerful Concentration spell in all of BG3.

Gontr Mael is found within the Steel Watch Foundary, pulled from the corpse of the Steet Watch Titan boss.

15. Markoheshkir

The most powerful staff for spellcasters with a focus on offense, Markoheshkir allows the user to bind themselves to a specific element. Doing so grants the wielder access to two of that element's most powerful spells (Electricity, for example, gets access to Chain Lightning and Lightning Bolt) that require no additional spell slots to cast and can be cast once, for free, per turn. This weapon is by far one of the most broken, overpowered items in all of BG3. A must-have.

Markoheshkir can be looted from Ramazith's Tower after killing or avoiding Loroakan.

16. Nyrulna

Nyrulna is one of the more unique items on this list due to the unique playstyle it offers its wielder. When thrown, Nyrulna not only returns to the wielder's hands automatically, it deals 3-12 Thunder damage in a six-meter blast centered on the impact area. It also dramatically improves the wielder's Movement speed and Jump distance and grants total immunity to falling damage. If that all wasn't enough, Nyrulna has a Weapon Enchantment +3 attached. This is a crazy good legendary weapon found very early in Act 3 if you know where to look.

Nyrulna can be looted from a chest after being teleported to a random jungle by Akabi. He is located at the Cirus of the Last Days in Rivington.
